Safeguarding
Safeguarding our children is the most important aspect of our provision.
Safeguarding includes:
- Protecting children from maltreatment
- Preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development
- Ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
- Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes
(Taken from Working Together to Safeguard Children – the national guidance)
All of our staff and governors are trained in how to identify and respond to safeguarding concerns. Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) holds responsibility for dealing with
child protection issues, providing advice and support to other staff, liaising with the local authority, and working with other agencies.
Our DSL is our Headteacher, Miss Maria Ackland. In her absence our Deputy DSLs can fulfil the DSL responsibilities. Our Deputy DSLs are Mr Isaac Haskell and Mrs Jenni Pridgeon. Anyone who wishes to share a concern with our DSL can request a confidential conversation by emailing adminoffice@horndean-jun.hants. sch.uk
