Charity Events

Harvest Festival

Each year our school collect donations of food at our Harvest Festival. We send our donations to the Horndean Foodbank which supports people in our local community.

This year our Year 5 children will be visiting the Horndean Foodbank where they will have the opportunity to help sort the items into packages and participate in activities to give them a better understanding of the process.

This will provide the children with the understanding of how food banks work whilst making links with our TLC statement - seek opportunities to help those in need.

Grassroots Trust

As a school we support the Christian charity ‘Grassroots Trust’. Each class has a child who lives in Tanzania that they raise money for to buy food, clothing and education. Children in our school are forming relationships with the children they support through understanding their culture and comparing their daily lives.

It currently costs each class £42 per year to support their Grassroots child so we hold a special fundraising day each year to raise sufficient funds.

The directors of the Grassroots Trust Hugo and Sharon Anson visit our school each year to explain more about the lives of children in Tanzania and how we can support them.

Christmas Shoebox Appeal

Each year our children and staff send Christmas presents to children around the world who would not otherwise receive presents. We do this through the Christian Charity Blythswood Care whose slogan is "Christian Care for Body and Soul".

Our Children's Christian Values Team organise the collection and an example checklist can be downloaded below.

Children in Need TLC Bake Off

Our Christian Values Team have organised several Bake Off competitions to support the national Children in Need appeal which exemplifies our Caring with Compassion statement - seek opportunity to help those in need.

Our challenge has been to bake a cake, small cakes or biscuits with a TLC theme. Entries are judged on presentation, originality and flavour.

Recycle with Michael

Our Children's Christian Values Team came up with an idea to raise funds for a Christian charity as well as being good stewards of God's world through recycling clothing.

We collected unwanted clothes and shoes for the Salvation Army's Recycle with Michael project and feel proud of what we achieved.
