The letter celebrates the improvement we have secured in Key Stage 2 results for pupils who the government have identified as being at risk of underachievement stating that our provision is “highly effective” and that “school staff have provided these children with a good start in life and prepared them well for secondary school.”
Over recent years we have developed a number of highly effective strategies to improve educational outcomes for all of our children and we are thrilled to have this success recognised. Our staff team use Pupil Premium funding to provide support for individuals and groups of children to accelerate their progress in English and maths. We also provide excellent pastoral support to raise children’s self-esteem and promote their personal and social skills, which are essentials for life and learning.
One particularly innovative strategy which has been successfully implemented by our Assistant Headteacher Mrs Pat Brown has been the ‘Explorer Club’. This is funded through the Pupil Premium grant and is based on the fundamental idea of linking children’s learning to their own interests and aspirations to raise their engagement and secure greater progress.
Many children have benefitted from this club which, along with a wide range of more traditional interventions, has secured these excellent outcomes for our children.
